55th Birthday Bash @ Blue Ridge Summit Library
Sep 14 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

The Blue Ridges Summit Free Library will celebrate 55 years of service in the former Western Maryland Railway station on Saturday, September 14, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Come out for a time of community fellowship and join in the festivities and help us celebrate!!

The station was “given” to the library in 1958 by the Western Maryland Railway, with the stipulation that it must always be used as a library.  We celebrate 55 years of continuous library service to the community from this building, and honor the unique history which we have the privilege to preserve and utilize.

The event includes:

  •  A book sale of thousands of used and like-new books – many of which have recently been weeded from the library’s very own collection.
  •  A special cake-cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m.  – FREE refreshments, including cake, will be served
  •  A special Story Hour for the kids will be held at 11:00 a.m. with local authors Maxine Beck and Marie Lancer-Beck.
  •  Vendors
  •  Historian David Cline will be available in the morning to discuss the history of the station and the Western Maryland Railway in Blue Ridge Summit, and will have photos and other items on display.
  •  Musical entertainment
  •  Details on the interior remodeling being undertaken in the library.
