coyleLocated in downtown Chambersburg, a block north of the square, the Coyle Free Library has been a part of the Chambersburg community since 1891 as it was started by a group of ladies called the Afternoon Club, a group that still exists today. Currently in its third location, the former post office, we provide 20 public computers, a large collection of books (approximately 70,000), a wide variety of movies, free wifi, and a staff willing to help you find what you need. We are the resource center for the public libraries in Franklin and Fulton counties; therefore, we have more hours and a larger collection.

CoyleFriends is a jeans-and sneakers, non-profit organization that supports Coyle Free Library by raising money, and by volunteering, maintaining the library grounds and delivering books to the homebound. Since our beginning in 1994, we have contributed more than $41,000 to Coyle, purchasing, among other things, carpet for the fiction room and children’s area, a new front desk and collections display case. Of course, we’ve also contributed thousands for books, videos, CD’s and audio books.

Our meetings are held at Coyle on the third Monday of each month at 1:30p.m., and all members are welcome to join us.

We’d love to have you join us! Just scroll down to print and fill out the application and send it in!
